Plenty of talk about the North Dakota pre-season pheasant numbers which are down 30% from last year. One additional topic I’ve talked with others on is while we don’t dispute these numbers. Not at all, a little bit of hope may come from a later spring and later hatch with the timing of the brood runs and the small size of the pheasant chicks maybe there will be some pleasant surprises? Don’t get me wrong, the numbers are down, but what we’re saying is we hope and have some biological rationale to support the fundamental fact that in any year you have re-nesting broods and late hatch brood which may not make it into the count. It can happen every year, but here’s holding out hope this year it holds true. We’ll soon find out.
