S.D. capital hits maximum of 70 deer killed in town
PIERRE, S.D. — The deer harvest in Pierre has ended after the maximum 70 animals were killed.
The harvest done by police sharpshooters is in its third year and designed to thin the number of deer entering the city.
Area residents can sign up to receive carcasses.
Deer Task Force Chairman Larry Weiss said despite this year’s heavy snow, the harvest that started in mid-November went well.
