So how does an issue such as hunting age relate to access? Directly, as the recruitment, retention and future of hunting is tied to the funding provided by hunter license dollars and excise taxes. It’s really quite simple. Without new hunters to replace the aged and dead, the money to maintain exisitng public land and access will dry up. No money equals no public land preserved or maintained. No land and hunting is essentially extinct. I know it’s a gross illustration, but I need to keep attention on all aspects of access and when critical reports arise discounting the safety of lowering hunting ages, we begin losing grip of a tool imperative to hooking kids on hunting.
